Nurturing personal and academic growth
Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand, for Year 7-10
Harbour College is a school for students who thrive in a small, individualised, and peaceful learning environment
What we do
“An education capable of saving humanity is no small undertaking. It involves the spiritual development of humanity, the enhancement of his or her value as an individual, and the preparation of young people to times in which they live.”
Maria Montessori
Despite the claims of social media platforms on how “connected” we are, the adolescents are experiencing unprecedented sense of isolation and anxiety.
Schools are now more important than ever to be the “village” that families may rely on in order to give the children genuine connections that they need in order to navigate their growth to adulthood
What does this person need?
Every child is different, each with his or her own needs.
Our teachers are sensitive to this, and allow the programme and lessons to be flexible and adaptable to student’s individual needs.
Ask yourself now: ”What does my child NEED?”
Your child’s learning should have the answer at its heart.
Emotional Safety
Our biggest priority (often what they need FIRST) is for them to be comfortable with who they are.
When they begin to be comfortable with themselves, not only then real learning can start but they will begin to ENJOY it; it will ADD to who they are.
This often takes time but just like most things in nature, cannot be hurried; it can only be nurtured.
Modern Learning
Modern learning is very different from the past; homogeneous teaching and indoctrination has no place.
Instead, the three pillars of modern education are
Critical Thinking
Independence & Research capability
Communication proficiency
Our learning framework and teaching approach ensure that these become established in a way that relates to students’ needs.
