Some adolescents find traditional school system and approach very difficult to manage.

While the reasons behind this is complex and multifactorial that go well beyond individual difficulties, those with the following “symptoms” often find the environment at Harbour College conducive to their growth:

Disengagement and lack of connection with the teachers and learning

Social Difficulties or Isolation

Anxiety about the school

Difficulty managing the school routine / timetable

Noise sensitivity - constantly wanting to use headphones

Unreasonable level of dislike towards the school and the teachers

“Disappearing” into the background at school

We believe that these cohorts need close, consistent, and individual guidance with a small number of same stable adults who are not afraid of creating and maintaining genuine long-term personal connections, every day.

Harbour College at Browns Bay offers this in a consolidated environment and curriculum, to allow students to find self-centredness, and learn to relate to others.

For some students who are struggling to attend, and wanting to use Harbour College as a stepping stone towards returning to their schools, we can work as a transition school.
